ECA to publish study to demonstrate that the transfer market is operating as normal in Europe

European clubs made 14,322 international transfers (from one national association to another) during the seasons 2011-12 and 2012-13, for a total of $5.147b (€3.747b), said a study by ECA (European Club Association), entitled "The transfer system in Europe," published for the 12th general meeting of the association held on 03 and 04/03/2014 in Barcelona (ESP).

The study, conducted by the audit and consultancy firm, PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) and the University Carlo-Cattaneo LIUC (Varese, Italy), follows that of consultancy firm KEA, entitled "The economics and legal aspects of player transfers," commissioned by the European Commission, published in January 2013.

"It is for this reason that ECA felt the need to commission a study highlighting the reality governing the transfer system.
