Premier League: Nike may extend with Manchester United for €72m per year

Nike may extend its kit supplier contract with Manchester United (Premier League) for €72m per year, according to the British newspaper, The Daily Mail on 10/03/2014. Partners of the club since the 2002-03 season, Nike will see its current contract end at the end of the 2014-15 championship. The American brand pays €31.5m per year. Nike had failed to reach an agreement with the club during the exclusive renegotiation phase in 2013.

The extension of the 10-year agreement would bind the American brand to the Mancunian club until the end of the 2025-26 season. The payment of €72m would be a record for any football club. The largest kit supplier contract is currently between Real Madrid (Liga BBVA) and the German brand, Adidas, valued at €38m until the end of the 2019-20 season.

Kit and equipment suppliers, Adidas, Puma and Warrior are also in negotiations with Manchester United. Nike wants to keep its main club in the Premier League, especially considering the brand will no longer partner with Arsenal in 2014-15.
