Yngve Hallén was re-elected chairman of the NFF (Norwegian football federation) until 2016 on 09/03/2014. In office since 2010, the Norwegian begins his third term as head of the federation. Two new members were elected to the executive committee of the NFF for the 2014-16 period: Mina Gerhardsen and Turid Storhaug. With these two elections, the committee becomes gender balanced (four women and four men).

"Of course, we want our national teams to qualify for major tournaments, but for us it is just as important that every child that wants to, can play football in a secure environment," said Yngve Hallén on 09/03/2014. "This is the reason we are putting emphasis on educating coaches and leaders in the clubs."

  • Norway did not qualify for the 2014 World Cup. They finished fourth in Group E behind Switzerland, Iceland and Slovenia.
  • The last World Cup in which Norway participated was in 1998, in France. They reached the second round (eliminated by Italy, 1-0).
