"A total of 8,935 international transfers were completed during this period (between 01/06 and 02/09/2019) throughout the world - a 4.8% increase compared to the same period in 2018. The vast majority of such transfers (81.5%) did not include a transfer fee, but there was nevertheless a 9.0% increase recorded in total spending on transfer fees, which reached $5.79bn (€5.23bn). Despite the fact that most international transfers did not involve clubs from the Big 5 (European Top 5 leagues), 75.7% of the global spending on transfer fees ($4383bn/€3.949bn) came from clubs in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain," said FIFA in its "Big 5 Transfer Window Analysis Summer 2019" report, published on 12/09/2019.
