Italy: FIGC - City of Rome agreement for the construction of a National team centre

The FIGC and Roma Capitale (the City of Rome) have signed a protocol for the construction of the "Casa delle Nazionali" (House of national teams) on 12/09/2019. The project, planned within the "Salaria Sport Village" north of Rome (ITA), includes the creation of a federal centre for the activities of national men's and women's teams, a state-of-the-art medical physiotherapy centre and a scientific centre for the training of young players.

"Following the resolution of the City Council on 30/07/2019 (...), the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio intends to create a sports centre of excellence, with a significant impact on the city of Rome, both socially and in terms of image, particularly at the international level," explained the Italian Federation.

"This synergy (FIGC - City of Rome) represents an important opportunity for the city and a gift for the national football team, not to mention the ethical and educational aspect of sport," said Virginia Raggi, Mayor of Rome, on 01/08/2019.
