2019-20 Champions League: Matchday 1 of the group stage on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18/09/2019

Matchday 1 of the 2019-20 Champions League group stage is scheduled for Tuesday 17 (Groups E, F, G and H) and Wednesday 18/09/2019 (Groups A, B, C and D) (see programme below). The final will take place at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul (TUR) on Saturday 30/05/2020.

Since the 2018-19 season, Spain, England, Italy and Germany, the four countries that occupy the top four places in the UEFA ranking, have four places in the Champions League group stage, for a total of 16 places out of 32 (50%).

European Top 4 representatives in 2019-20:
• Spain: FC Barcelona, Club Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid CF and Valencia CF.
• England: Manchester City FC, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
• Italy: Juventus FC, Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli, Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio and FC Internazionale Milano.
• Germany: FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
