With more than 235 million fans on social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has 8.7 times more than Borussia Dortmund, which totals nearly 27 million, as the two teams prepare to face each other on Matchday 1 of the Group F of the 2019-20 Champions League, at the Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund, GER), on Tuesday 17/09/2019 (kick-off at 21:00 CET).

The German club has an average home attendance of 81,365 spectators (a 100% fill rate) after four Bundesliga matchdays, while the Catalan club has an average of 80,389 spectators at the Camp Nou (99,354 capacity) after four LaLiga Santander matchdays (fill rate: 81%). The two clubs posted the best average attendance figures in Europe during the 2018-19 season.

FC Barcelona spent €697m composing its 2019-20 squad, according to a study by the CIES Football Observatory published on 09/09/2019. The Barcelona squad was valued at €1.18bn by the website Transfermarkt on 17/09/2019. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund spent €321m building its squad, which is valued at €634.1m.
