"Our position is clear and firm. Women have to be allowed into football stadiums in Iran," said Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, on 19/09/2019.

"I am hopeful that the Iranian Federation and the Iranian authorities were receptive to our repeated calls to address this unacceptable situation.I contacted them several times in the recent past and so has the FIFA administration. We have a delegation of FIFA members in Iran at the moment and I am looking forward to hearing good news from them," said the president of the international football federation.

Sahar Khodayari, a 29-year-old Iranian woman, set herself on fire on 02/09/2019 in Tehran (IRN), where she was to be sentenced for attending a football match. She died as a result of her injuries on 09/09/2019.
