ExclusiveEnd of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT: "Surprised, but this is the market" (L. Salmaso, BKT Europe)

"(I was) surprised. But this is the market, there is no time for being surprised. We understand the rules of the market. We are a business as well. Sometimes it is necessary to take decisions that you do not want to take," stated Lucia Salmaso, the CEO of BKT Europe, in an exclusive interview with News Tank Football on 20/09/2019, in response to the decision of the Board of Directors, then the General Assembly of the French Professional Football League (LFP), to suspend the organization of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT at the end of the 2019-20 edition, on 18/09/2019.

The Indian manufacturer BKT, the world leader in off-road tyres (agriculture, construction, industry, etc), acquired the title naming rights to the Coupe de la Ligue for the 2018-2024 period from the LFP on 12/09/2018, for an estimated €3.5m per year.

"We are already thinking about future projects, as the LFP is. Anyway, the LFP does not exclude to restore the tournament if the circumstances are better," said Lucia Salmaso, who added that the contractual consequences of this new situation have not yet been discussed.
