Milan AC (Serie A) want to buy the site of the World Expo 2015 to build a stadium, the club announced before the deadline on 17/03/2014. The land is located in Rho, in the northwest town of Milan.

Milan AC is the only company that responded to the call for tenders to acquire the 120,000 square meters land of the World Expo 2015, said Arexpo SpA, the operating company.

The club wants to build a 60,000-seat stadium and intends to begin work in June 2016. Milan AC have been playing at Giuseppe Meazza stadium (80,000 seats) since its inauguration in 1926. The venue, owned by the city of Milan, is also used by Inter Milan.

  • The Indonesian businessman, Erick Thohir, president of Inter Milan, met with the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, to discuss the construction of the new stadium at Rho on 16/11/2013.
  • Inter Milan did not respond to the call for tenders to acquire the land operated by Arexpo SpA.
