Executive committee of Football Association (FA) oppose the name change of Hull City

The executive committee of the FA (Football Association) recommended the rejection of the request by Hull City (Premier League) to change its name to Hull Tigers on 17/03/2014. This recommendation was forwarded to the council of the FA, which will make the final decision on 09/04/2014.

"If the FA does not allow us to change our name, we will go and sell the club," said Assem Allam, owner of Hull City, following the announcement. Assem Allam had officially filed a name change from Hull City to Hull Tigers for the 2014-15 season on 02/12/2013.

This name change must be approved by the FA to become effective. The owner of the club said in August 2013 that the name "Tigers" was more effective from a commercial and marketing point of view than the suffix "City," which he considered "ugly and too common."

Hull City are 13^th in the Premier League after the 30^th matchday (game in hand), with 30 points, 36 points behind leaders, Chelsea.
