Hertha BSC (Bundesliga) has been offering its fans, since the beginning of the 2019-20 season, tickets to attend the club's matches at the Olympiastadion (74,649 capacity) via a chatbot on the Facebook Messenger instant messaging platform, according to the DFL on 09/09/2019.

"The chatbot kicks into action as soon as a user opens the Messenger app on their mobile phone and then guides them through the step-by-step process: choosing which match they need tickets for, how many they need, what types of tickets, and which section of the stadium they wish to sit in. After fans have paid for their tickets - still using Messenger - they are sent an e-ticket that they can scan at the turnstiles of the Olympiastadion. The entire transaction can be completed in under two minutes - perfect for time-conscious 'Generation Z' fans under the age of 25," said the German League.

Hertha BSC's chatbot, called "TicketBot", was developed in partnership with the German start-up spectrm, based in Berlin. The club plans to implement other features via this chatbot during the 2019-20 season.
