Italy: FIGC launches an eSports section, Nazionale di eFoot Azzurro, to compete in eEURO 2020

"The FIGC confirms the launch into eSports and chooses Milano Calcio City, the popular event for football video games, to stage of selection for the Nazionale di eFoot Azzurro, the team that will represent Italy in the virtual football championship at Euro 2020 (see UEFA eEURO 2020 eSports announcement below)," announced the Italian Football Federation on 25/09/2019.

"The Federation is preparing its own virtual national team through a series of qualifying tournaments to select the strongest Italian players. After the event organized during the European Under 21 Championship last June (2019), the second stage will take place on Monday, 30/09/2019 in Milan (ITA). The tournament will be divided into a preliminary phase starting at 14.00 CET and a final phase starting at 17.30, from which only one winner will come out. Registration is open and free, so any enthusiast can have the opportunity to test himself and aspire to be part of the Italian expedition at Euro 2020," stated the FIGC.
