EPFL: appointment of the CEO on the agenda of the general meeting on 21/03/2014

The appointment of the new CEO of the EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues) is on the agenda of the general meeting of the organisation, held in Athens, on 21/03/2014.

The new CEO will take over from Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, in office since 06/06/2005, the date the EPFL was created.

Frédéric Thiriez, chairman of the EPFL, will deliver the opening speech at the general meeting, where financial fair play, third party ownership and the possible evolution of the international calendar for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will all be other points of discussion.

  • Frédéric Thiriez was elected chairman of the EPFL on 25/10/2013. He had been the interim chairman since 15/05/2013. His three-year term will end in autumn 2016.
  • The objectives announced by Frédéric Thiriez at the beginning of his term include the defence of competition calendars, integrity, the fight against illegal betting and corruption, improving security during matches, promote solidarity among all clubs and amateur football.
