United States: ESPN to replace FOX as broadcaster of the Bundesliga (2020-2026)

The US bouquet of sports pay-TV channels ESPN has acquired the rights to broadcast, in the United States, the Bundesliga from the 2020-21 season, announced the DFL on 30/09/2019. The duration of the contract has not been officially communicated, but it would be six seasons according to the US media.

The rights also include those of the German Super Cup and the promotion/relegation play-offs. The Bundesliga's 306 games per season will be broadcast in English and Spanish on the OTT ESPN+ platform, with some matches on ESPN's linear TV channels, the German League stated.

The rights of the Bundesliga in the United States are currently held by the US group Fox Corporation (2015-2020 cycle) and broadcast on the pay-TV channels Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2, as well as "big" FOX (private, national free-TV channel).
