Emiliano Sala: FIFA orders Cardiff City FC to pay FC Nantes the first payment of the transfer (€6m)

"The FIFA Players' Status Committee established that Cardiff City FC (Sky Bet Championship) must pay FC Nantes (Ligue 1 Conforama) the sum of €6m corresponding to the first installment (out of three foreseen, see below) due in accordance with the transfer agreement concluded between the parties on 19/01/2019 for the transfer of the late Emiliano Sala (who died on 21/01/2019) from FC Nantes to Cardiff City FC," announced FIFA on 30/09/2019.

The Argentine striker Emiliano Sala was transferred for €17m (excluding bonuses) from FC Nantes to Cardiff City FC, who were, at the time, in the Premier League, on 19/01/2019. He was reported missing on Monday 21/01/2019 while travelling from Nantes to Cardiff in a small private plane. The wreck of the single-engine aircraft was located at the bottom of the English Channel on 03/02/2019, with Emiliano Sala on board, according to the British police on 07/02/2019. The player's body was recovered on 08/02/2019. His funeral was held in Argentina on 16/02/2019.
