FIFPro-European Leagues: agreement to improve the standard of concussion management protocols

"FIFPro and European Leagues have agreed on a framework to elevate standards of concussion management across European football leagues," announced the two bodies on 01/10/2019.

"Following the end of the 2018-19 season, FIFPro and European Leagues have critically reviewed match incidents with serious impact on player health, performance and long term quality of life," explained the bodies.

"The measures (see below) will be implemented over the course of the coming two seasons via domestic agreements. FIFPro and European Leagues will also form a scientific expert group to further study the occurrence of concussions and make recommendations for possible further regulatory changes," added FIFPro and European Leagues.

"To prevent and manage the risks associated with concussions more effectively national leagues and player unions will implement enhanced concussion management protocols" (FIFPro and European Leagues)
