Women's Euro 2021: TF1 (14 matches) and Canal+ (in full) acquire TV rights in France

The private, free-TV group TF1 and the pay-TV group Canal+ have acquired the broadcasting rights, in France, to the 2021 Women's Euro (second edition with 16 teams, organised in England from 11/07 to 01/08/2021), announced the two companies on 04/10/2019.

The Canal+ group will broadcast all 31 matches on Canal+ or Canal+ Sport, while the TF1 group will broadcast 14 matches, including all those of "Les Bleues", plus five other matches in the group phase, two quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final to be held at Wembley Stadium in London (ENG), on TF1 or TMC (both free-TV). The total amount paid would exceed €13m.

Five broadcasters (free or paid) responded to this call for tenders, and two rounds of bidding were required to allocate the rights. The rights of the 2017 Women's Euro (organised in the Netherlands), co-broadcast in full by the public broadcasting group France Télévisions and the pay-TV group Eurosport, brought an estimated €5m to UEFA.
