"We are an OTT player that aims to disrupt the hegemony of pay-TV over the sports rights ecosystem," said John Skipper (USA), executive chairman of DAZN, at the 2019 edition of the Leaders Sport Business Summit conference cycle, at Twickenham Stadium in London (ENG) 08/10/2019. "We are buying sports rights and the answers is yes we are going to bid for this and for that. I don't believe that a single sport OTT service is not going to win (do well). The success of an OTT service by the leagues is quite unlikely. "Tier one (or premium) rights help grow an OTT business, like the Serie A rights in Italy, and not niche sports rights. It’s scale that matters, and this comes with top tier rights.
