The "Clasico" between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona (29th matchday of Liga BBVA 2013-14) on 23/03/2014 will be produced and broadcast in Ultra HD format (4K) announced Mediapro on 20/03/2014. The Spanish media group said it is the first football game globally broadcast in this format.

4K is a quality of image which features four times the resolution of the traditional Full-HD, that is to say 3840 (width) x 2160 (height) pixels, or 8.3 megapixels, as opposed to 2.1 megapixels (1920 x 1080) for the current Full-HD technology

For the "Clasico", two 4K cameras will offer viewers a "Super Zoom", making replays more accurate than anything currently available. Mediapro also plans to offer highlights of the match in Ultra HD, to internet users via the YouTube channel of the Liga BBVA.

From 2014-15, La Liga and Mediapro will produce and broadcast several matches in 4K per season. The Mediapro group holds the pay-TV channel Gol Television and free-TV channel, La Sexta, two of the three domestic broadcasters the Spanish first division.
