FIFA: Fatma Samoura honored at "Best of Africa Awards" as a "History Maker"

Fatma Samoura (SEN), FIFA secretary general and FIFA general delegate for Africa was recognized as a "History Maker" at the Best of Africa Awards, in London (ENG) on 06/10/2019.

"The Best of Africa Awards are held annually in London and bring together some of the most influential members of the African diaspora living and working in the United Kingdom, to highlight the positive achievements they have made to communities at home and abroad," said FIFA on 07/10/2019.

"Fatma Samoura was presented with the award by Rio Ferdinand (former England international player), in recognition of her work at FIFA where she has held the position of secretary general since May 2016, when she became the first-ever African, Muslim woman to take up this role," said the international federation.

Fatma Samoura is also "FIFA's general delegate for Africa" since 01/08/2019, for a six-month, renewable term.
