3,500 women were able to attend Iran's 14-0 victory over Cambodia in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match in Qatar (Asia zone, Group C) at Tehran's Azadi Stadium (IRN) on 10/10/2019.

A delegation of FIFA experts visited Tehran on 19/09/2019 "to discuss measures designed to allow women in Iran to freely attend football matches," said the International Federation on Wednesday 21/09/2019.

Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iranian women have not had access to stadiums for men's football competitions, officially to protect them from the rudeness of men. Only a few were selected by the Iranian authorities.

"Our position is clear and firm. Women have to be allowed into football stadiums in Iran," said Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, on 19/09/2019. Yuri Djorkaeff, appointed CEO of the FIFA Foundation on 18/09/2019, was present in Iran to watch the match versus Cambodia.
