Spain: Javier Gómez to step down as corporate general director of LaLiga in December 2019

Javier Gómez (52) will leave the post of corporate general director of LaLiga in December 2019, a position he has held since 2013, announced the Spanish League on 10/10/2019.

"Gómez has made many contributions to professional football, but he will undoubtedly go down in history for having been the main architect of economic control, one of the first and great milestones of Javier Tebas' presidency. Professional football was in a state of bankruptcy and, thanks to this innovative system that clubs/SADs were able to understand and approve, Spanish football is now enjoying an exemplary economic recovery worldwide," said LaLiga.

According to several Spanish media reports, Javier Gómez will join, from January 2020, the Spanish player representation agency AC Talent, which manages the interests of Samuel Umtiti (FRA), Gerard Piqué (ESP) and Ivan Rakitic (CRO), among others. Javier Gómez is expected to head a newly created club advisory division within the agency.
