Bundesliga: Hertha BSC launches shirt to commemorate 30^th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall

Hertha BSC (Bundesliga) is launching a limited edition shirt to commemorate the 30^th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (09/11/1989), according to the club on 11/10/2019. The shirt will be worn versus RB Leipzig (Bundesliga) on 09/11/2019.

"Hertha will commemorate this occasion by wearing a special kit, that the 1989 team wore in the first game after the wall fell. Back then, Hertha wore a white jersey with a bear which itself wore a blue jersey," said the club, whose initiative is part of a campaign called "Wir sind ein Berliner" ("We are Berliners"), with reference to the phrase launched by John F. Kennedy, former President of the United States, in Berlin on 26/06/1963: "Ich bin ein Berliner" ("I am a Berliner").

"Main (shirt) sponsor TEDi and sleeve and auto sponsor Hyundai are showing their support for this initiative and have given up their usual spots on the front and sleeves of the kit," said the club.
