FIFA: Michael Garcia questions members of the executive committee on 2018 and 2022 World Cups

American Michael Garcia, chairman of the investigatory chamber of the ethics committee of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), "is currently in Zurich meeting members of the executive committee of FIFA in the context of its ongoing work," said the international federation on 20/01/2014, about the investigation into the bidding process for the World Cups to Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.

"The investigation is looking at the procedure for awarding the 2018 and 2022 World Cups," stated the ethics committee on 10/08/2013. This review should continue "at least several months into 2014," added the commission, which stated: "Our role, in this or any other matter, is to investigate potential violations of the FIFA Code of Ethics by football officials."

Of the 22 executive committee members who took part in the voting process to award the 2018 and 2022 World Cups on 02/12/2010, 12 are still working for the organisation, including Joseph Blatter, chairman of FIFA.
