2016-2020 Ligue 1 & 2 TV rights: Orange sent a "friendly letter" to the LFP

It was "a friendly letter for a partner" that the telecommunications group, Orange, sent to the LFP (French Professional Football League), "to confess their surprise about the disappearance of the 'mobile' lot in the calls for applications of the media rights of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for the 2016-2020 period," the French telecommunications group said to News Tank on 24/03/2014.

LFP launched the tender on 06/03/2014. The delivery of financial bids and the awarding of the rights will take place on 04/04/2014.

Holder of the mobile rights for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 until 2016 for an amount of €25m, the Orange group said it had received no prior information from the League regarding the new lots for 2016-2020 which now cover "all media" (TV, Internet, mobile): "We note that you have made the choice not to renew the mobile lot, while it has existed for several successive calls for applications," wrote Orange in the letter to the LFP, a few days after the launch of the tender.
