LaLiga Santander: Villarreal will open an academy in Halmstad (SWE), its 1^st in Europe out of Spain

Villarreal CF (LaLiga Santander) will open an academy in Halmstad (Sweden), its first in a European country outside Spain, announced the club on 18/10/2019.

The academy will be named "Villarreal Halland Academy", after the name of the region where the city of Halmstad (south-west Sweden) is located, and will be directed by José Acevedo. "The Villarreal CF methodology will help players and coaches to reach their maximum potential, and any young member of the academy who achieves excellent sports performance, great technical skills and exemplary behavior will be encouraged to train in our training centre," said the club.

The Swedish Academy will be the seventh permanent project set up by Villarreal CF, after those of Annandale, Lincoln, Fayetteville, New York, Fort Worth (United States), Seoul (South Korea) and Kashima (Japan). In 2018-19, the club hosted a total of more than 3,500 players in 24 different cities, counting the one-off projects. By 2019-20, this number will grow to 6,000, thanks to new projects in Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama and El Salvador.
