MLS: David Beckham presents a 35,000-seat stadium proposal for new Miami franchise

David Beckham presented a new 35,000-seat stadium proposal in Miami for the football franchise he owns, which will make their debut in MLS (Major League Soccer, North American Championship) in 2017, on 24/03/2014.

The former English player, who finished his career in May 2013 at Paris SG, announced an estimated cost of $200m (€144m) for the future venue. The project would be located at the edge of the Bay of Biscaine, near the AmericanAirlines Arena, where the Miami Heat are based, double NBA (North American Basketball League) champions. It also includes a hotel, a shopping mall and a parking lot of 5,000 spaces. More than thirty locations were studied before choosing this one.

The venue was designed by Architectonia (Miami) and 360 Architecture (San Francisco). David Beckham did not give a date for the beginning of construction, but hoped to come to a quick agreement with the municipality to deliver the stadium for the 2018 MLS season.
