"An internet based FIFA channel to broadcast local leagues" (Jérôme Champagne)

"Create an internet based FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) channel to broadcast local leagues," is one of the proposals made by Jérôme Champagne, candidate to the international federation presidency since 20/01/2014 in his second letter "on the theme of football development and the role of FIFA," published on 23/03/2014.

This channel would aim to encourage increased exposure for local championships in order to generate additional resources in countries where local competitions are less visible than the bigger West-European Championships (with the Premier League coming first) who have "more and more financial income escaping from local football" said Jérôme Champagne.

"The English Premier League, which is extraordinary, generates $3b over three years from international rights. The South African League, for example, should organise a competition, pay salaries, etc.., But with four or five English matches broadcast every weekend and rights not distributed locally [its difficult]," said Jérôme Champagne to News Tank on 17/03/2014.
