Deutsche Telekom has acquired the full and exclusive broadcasting rights, in Germany, for Euro 2024 (held in Germany), announced the German telecom operator on 23/10/2019.

Deutsche Telekom is expected to offer all 51 matches of the competition via its paid OTT platform Magenta. The German team matches, the opening match, the semi-finals and the final must be broadcast free of charge as provided for by German law. "Other matches" will be broadcast free of charge, explained Deutsche Telekom, who added that they would like to "explore the possibility of sub-licensing to a free-TV group."

The German public audiovisual groups ARD and ZDF, the historical broadcasters of the competition and holders of the Euro 2020 rights, as well as the German free and private TV group RTL, declared themselves open to discussions with the new rights holder on 23/10/2019.

  • The agreement was negotiated by the Swiss agency CAA Eleven Sector: agency which markets the broadcasting, marketing and licensing rights of the national team competitions organised by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations)
