Formula 1: British driver Lewis Hamilton crowned world champion for the sixth time

Lewis Hamilton (GBR) was crowned Formula One World Champion for the sixth time in his career (2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2017, 2018 and 2019) following his second place at the US Grand Prix, the 19^th race (out of 21) of the F1 season organised by Formula One Group, on 03/11/2019. The British driver has been with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team since the 2013 season.

Hamilton became the second most successful driver in Formula 1 history, overtaking Argentina's Juan-Manuel Fangio (1951 and 1954-57). With seven world titles (1994, 1995 and from 2000 to 2004), Germany's Michael Schumacher still holds the record as Formula 1's most successful driver.

The British driver has 23.2 million fans on social networks (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), the most among the F1 drivers (as of 04/11/2019). This number of fans has increased by 33.3% since Lewis Hamilton's last title (17.4 million followers as of 28/10/2018).
