AC Milan: inauguration of a sports complex in a refugee reception centre in Niamey (Niger)

Fondazione Milan, the foundation created by AC Milan (Serie A TIM), and UNHCR (The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) have inaugurated a sports complex financed by the Italian club in a reception centre for refugees evacuated from Libya, located in Niamey (capital of Niger), on 07/11/2019.

AC Milan has provided the funds to build a football pitch with stands, as well as basketball and volleyball courts in the Niamey Centre. The creation of these facilities is part of the UNHCR's "Sport as Therapy" project, which aims to enable refugees to participate in sports to alleviate the trauma of exile, as refugees in Niamey have often suffered violence and/or torture.

"The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Rocco Giorgianni, secretery general of the Fondazione Milan.
