FC Bayern Munich: construction begins on a football school for 2,160 students in Shenzhen, China

FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) is beginning construction work on its future football school in the Chinese city of Shenzhen (population 12.5 million), in the Guangdong region (south-east of the country), on 07/11/2019.

The construction project, carried out in partnership with the Shenzhen Investment Holdings Company, a public group partly owned by the City of Shenzhen, and China Sports Futurity, a Chinese sports agency, was presented in April 2017. The school will accommodate 2,160 students in 54 classes and will have 20 football pitches, including six 11-a-side football pitches. Its opening is scheduled for September 2020.

"With the FC Bayern Football School Shenzhen, a figurehead of football development and the German-Chinese partnership is being created and the modern football culture in our country is further promoted," said Wang Lixin, Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen.
