Netherlands: Aegon insurers to sponsor Ajax Amsterdam shirts until December 2014

The insurer, Aegon, has extended it contract as shirt sponsor of Ajax Amsterdam (NLD, Eredivisie) until December 2014, the club announced on 26/03/2014.

The prolongation of the contract by six months is valued at €3m. Aegon has been present on the shirt of Ajax since 2007-08. "This extension by a few months meets our needs, by giving us time to find a replacement for Aegon," said Edwin Van der Sar, marketing director of Ajax and former goalkeeper of the club. The contract between the two parties is estimated at €10m for the 2013-14 season.

Aegon will instead become an 'official sponsor' in January 2015. The insurer is under contract with Ajax until June 2017. The agreement includes an option to extend for one year.
