Lega Serie A: an Assembly on Mediapro's offer (25/11/2019) and election of a president (02/12/2019)

"The election of the president of Lega Serie A" is the main item on the agenda of the General Assembly of the Italian professional league to be convened on Monday 02/12/2019 (at 10:00 CET, or noon if there is no quorum at 10:00), and announced on 19/11/2019.

The election comes as a result of Gaetano Miccichè's resignation on 19/11/2019: "I announce, by this statement, my immediate resignation from the position of president of the Lega Serie A. The rumours published today in the newspapers about the closure of the investigation regarding my appointment 20 months ago and of its possible outcome are unacceptable and oblige me to make this decision," said Miccichè who was unanimously elected on 19/03/2018.

The FIGC Federal Council has appointed Mario Cicala, who has headed the Federation's supervisory body since 01/10/2019, as provisional administrator of the Lega Serie A. However, his appointment will only take effect on Tuesday 03/12/2019 if the League has not succeeded in electing a new president during the Assembly scheduled on 02/12/2019.
