The Lega Serie A has officially launched the "eSerie A TIM", the first eSports competition of the Italian pofessional football league on a football video game (either FIFA or PES), announced Luigi De Siervo, CEO of the body, during the "Social Football Summit 2019" at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome (ITA), on 21/11/2019. "In a month's time, we will present the complete project, revealing all the details of the competition," said De Siervo. Consequently, all Top 5 European Leagues now have an affiliated eSports competition (see below).

"eSports is one of the most innovative aspects of our business plan. Our idea is to involve as many people as possible, especially Generation Z (people born in the year 2000). We try to be as attractive as possible. Our objective is to have visibility on channels like Twitch, but also on traditional media," added Lugi De Siervo.

The competition is expected to take place during the second half of the 2019-20 season (winter and spring qualification system) with the final phases taking place on the same day as the TIM Cup on 13/05/2020.
