Tennis: Roger Federer becomes a shareholder of the Swiss footwear brand On

Swiss tennis player Roger Federer has become a shareholder of the Swiss brand of running footwear On, announced the company on 23/11/2019.

"Roger Federer is joining On not because of any sponsorship, but because of entrepreneurship. He's here to help us shape the future of sports. He is a natural leader and entrepreneur off the court as well. We value the same things and share a passion for innovation and design," said On.

Roger Federer has been ambassador for the Japanese clothing and equipment manufacturer Uniqlo since July 2017, after having been ambassador for the American equipment manufacturer Nike from the beginning of his career in 1998, until 2017. On the court, however, Federer continues to play wearing Nike footwear (without a contract with the brand), as Uniqlo does not manufacture sports shoes.

"Roger is already working with us on new innovations in the On Lab, and we aim to finish and release them in 2020," said On, who currently does not manufacture models adapted for tennis.
