CIES: France is the country with the most expatriate players (115) among the Top 5 European leagues

105 French players have played, since the beginning of the 2019-20 season, at least one match in one of the four Top 5 European leagues excluding the Ligue 1 Conforama, making France the country with the most expatriate players amoung the Top 5 leagues, according to the Weekly Post from the CIES Football Observatory, published on 25/11/2019.

French players are the most numerous foreign players in the Premier League (41 players), Bundesliga (28) and LaLiga Santander (25). They represent the second largest contingent of expatriates in the Serie A TIM, behind Brazilians (21 players, versus 33). In total, the French represent 10.8% of expatriate players in the Top 5 European leagues, ahead of Brazilian (104 players, 9.7%) and Spanish players (67 players, 6.3%).

In the Ligue 1 Conforama, Brazilians are the most numerous foreigners (25 players), well ahead of Portuguese and Spanish players (11 players each).
