Serie A TV rights: Lega Serie A calls for counter-proposal for Mediapro to be reviewed on 16/12/2019

The proposal of the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro to create a channel dedicated to the Serie A TIM for the broadcasting rights for the 2021-2024 cycle was not put to a vote at the Assembly of the Lega Serie A on 25/11/2019.

A counter-proposal drafted unilaterally by the TV rights committee of the Italian league was put to a vote but did not reach the necessary majority. 10 clubs voted in favour, six against (AS Roma, Bologna FC 1909, FC Internazionale Milano, AC Milan, Torino FC and US Lecce), three abstained (Juventus FC, ACF Fiorentina and SSC Napoli) and one club was absent (US Sassuolo), according to Italian media.

18 clubs then voted to continue discussions with Mediapro (one abstention and one absence). A new counter-proposal will be reviewed on 16/12/2019. "It was decided to improve the text in some respects, the main concern being payments, guarantees and cash flows. But this means that we are taking a step in the right direction (for an agreement).
