Euro 2020: TF1 and M6 acquire TV rights to the 23 best fixtures including France matches

The private television groups TF1 and M6 have acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights for Euro 2020 on 27/11/2019. The two groups will share the 23 best fixtures of the competition (including the matches of the French team) exclusively and on free-to-air: 12 group stage matches, including the opening match, five Round of 16 games, three quarterfinals, the semi-finals and the final.

The two groups, which acquired these rights for an estimated €45m-€50m, had previously shared the free-to-air rights to Euro 2016 for a similar amount as well as the broadcasting rights to the matches of the French national men's team (excluding the Euro and the World Cup), over the 2018-2022 cycle (€3.5m per match).

The pay-TV broadcaster (of all 51 matches of Euro 2020) should also be announced within the next few days. Mediapro and beIN Sports are fighting for these rights, according to News Tank Football information. beIN Sports had previously acquired the broadcasting rights for all Euro 2012 (31 games, for an estimated €50m) and Euro 2016 matches (51 games, for an estimated €60m), on 10/04/2012.
