2021-24 Champions League TV rights: "Find an agreement with beIN or Canal+" (A. Weill, Altice)

"If we did not win, it is because our offer would not be better than that of those who won... We have no regrets. The problem (broadcasting) of the French championship is still not settled for the next season (this alludes to the creation of the future Mediapro channel in France), so the Champions League (change) is far away. We will see if we can find an agreement with beIN Sports or Canal+. In any case, we will also broadcast the Premier League next season," said Alain Weill, CEO of Altice France and Europe, to the French sports media L'Equipe on 29/11/2019

The French pay-TV group Canal+ has acquired the rights of two fixtures per matchday round (one each on Tuesday and Wednesday evening) and the free-TV television group TF1 the rights in exclusivity to the final (which must be free-to-air in France). The total amount paid by the three groups would be €375m per season according to the French media outlet L'Equipe on 29/11/2019. The broadcasting rights, in France, to the UEFA Europa League and future Conference League have not been awarded for the moment, according to News Tank…
