The Lega Serie A failed to elect a new president at its General Assembly held in Milan (ITA) on 02/12/2019, following the resignation of Gaetano Miccichè on 19/11/2019.

With 11 blank votes in the first ballot, and 13 in the second, the quorum of 14 votes cast was not reached.

Mario Cicala, 78 years old (born on 09/09/1941), president of the supervisory body of the Italian Football Federation since 01/10/2019, thus becomes, by decision of the FIGC of 21/11/2019, the provisional commissioner, i.e. the legal representative of the Lega Serie A, from 03/12/2019. He is in charge of managing the electoral phase, within the framework of a mandate which will expire on 10/03/2020.

The first division clubs have 45 days (until 16/01/2020) to nominate a new president. If the Lega Serie A does not succeed, then Mario Cicala will continue to administer the Italian League.
