International transfers of minors: CAS grants Chelsea FC permission to recruit in January 2020

"Chelsea FC (Premier League) is banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for one entire registration period, which the club already served during the 2019 summer registration period" and have been "ordered to pay a fine to FIFA of the amount of CHF300,000 (€264,000)," according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which issued these sanctions to the club for violating FIFA's regulations regarding the status and transfer of minors.

On 22/02/2019, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee "sanctioned Chelsea FC (Premier League) with a ban on registering new players at both national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods (Summer 2019 and January 2020)" and fined the club CHF600,000 (€528,000), for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of 29 players under the age of 18." The London club has had the sanctions imposed by CAS reduced by half, which will allow it to recruit players during the next winter transfer window, from 01 to 31/01/2020 in the Premier League.
