Germany: Amazon acquires TV rights to the Champions League (Tuesday night game)

Amazon has acquired some broadcasting rights, in Germany, to the UEFA Champions League, namely the best Tuesday night game over the 2021-2024 cycle, the US e-commerce group announced on 10/12/2019.

The attribution of the other rights (best Wednesday night game, all other games, final on free-to-air) has not yet been formalized. The pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland and the OTT platform DAZN currently share the rights to the competition for the current cycle (2018-2021)

Germany is the third European country where Amazon has acquired sports broadcasting rights after the United Kingdom (Premier League, US Open, ATP and WTA tournaments) and France (French Open). Amazon also has broadcasting rights, in Germany, to the Bundesliga and tot he 2.Bundesliga, on the web and via mobile platforms for the 2017-2021 cycle.
