France : Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, Minister of Women's Rights, Urban Affairs, Youth and Sport

Najat Vallaud-Belkacem was appointed Minister of Women's Rights, Urban Affairs, Youth and Sport by the President of the French Republic, François Hollande, on the recommendation of Prime Minister, Manuel Valls on 02/04/2014.

She previously held the position of spokeswoman for the government of former Prime Minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, and had been Minister of Women's Rights since 15/05/2012.

The portfolios of Youth and Sports had been held by Valerie Fourneyron since 17/05/2012, who was also responsible for popular education and community life. She was to present her law for the modernisation of sport to the Council of Ministers before the summer of 2014, to be adopted by Parliament before the end of the year.

The list of secretaries of state for the government of Manuel Valls will be formalised on 09/04/2014.
