The Italian Massimo Calvelli, 45 years old, has been appointed CEO of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), the body said on 11/12/2019. He will take office on 01/01/2020.

He joins his compatriot Andrea Gaudenzi, who will become president of ATP on 01/01/2020, following his appointment for four years (2020-2023) on 24/10/2019. The two Italians replace the Englishman Chris Kermode, whose term as head of the body in "the combined position of executive chairman of the board and chairman of the ATP", and which expires at the end of 2019, has not been extended as the body announced on 07/03/2019.

Prior to joining the ATP, Massimo Calvelli was employed by Nike since May 2011 where he held several positions, oversaw all aspects of global tennis sports marketing, and negotiated with many athletes who became ambassadors for the American equipment manufacturer. The former professional tennis player was also global sales director of Wilson Sporting Goods between 2009 and 2011, added the ATP.
