Champions League: for the first time ever all Round of 16 clubs come from the Top 5 European leagues

For the first time in the history of the Champions League, the 16 clubs that have qualified for the Round of 16 during the 2019-20 edition are all from the European Top 5: four English, four Spanish, three German, three Italian and two French clubs (see list below).

The 16 qualified clubs (by country):
• England: Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
• Spain: FC Barcelona, Valencia CF, Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid CF.
• Germany: FC Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.
• Italy: Juventus FC, Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio and Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli.
• France: Paris Saint-Germain FC and Olympique Lyonnais.

The draw for the Round of 16 will take place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon (SUI) on Monday 16/12/2019 at midday (CET). The rules prohibit, at this stage of the competition, any match between teams from the same country. These Round of 16 matches are scheduled for 18-19/02 and 25-26/02/2020 (first leg), then 10-11/03 and 17-18/03/2020 (second leg).
