France: Canal+ acquires the best Europa League or Europa Conference League game per round (2021-24)

The French free and pay-TV group Canal+ has acquired the broadcasting rights, in France, to the best UEFA Europa League (or Europa Conference League) game per round, from UEFA, for the 2021-2024 cycle, on 11/12/2019.

This game of the week could also be co-broadcast by a free-to-air channel, since TEAM Marketing, the agency that markets the rights to UEFA's club competitions, will re-open a call for tenders with two lots (16/12/2019 ), including one for the rights of this game free-to-air and the other with the other games of the two competitions, according to the French media outlet L'Équipe on 12/12/2019.

This is the third acquisition of football TV rights in the space of less than two weeks for Canal+, after getting the two best games per round (one each on Tuesday and Wednesday) of the Champions League for 2021-2024 cycle, for an amount estimated at €310m per year (according to L'Equipe) on 29/11/2019, and then the sublicensing of the Ligue 1 broadcasting rights acquired by the pay-TV group beIN Sports France for the 2020-2024 cycle, for an estimated €330m, on 09/12/2019.
