Premier League: Richard Masters appointed chief executive after serving the role on interim basis

Richard Masters, former interim chief executive of the Premier League, has been appointed as the new permanent chief executive, according to the English league, after a "special meeting" with Premier League clubs on 12/12/2019.

Earlier this year, the Premier League announced that David Pemsel, former chief executive of Guardian Media Group, would be named as its new chief executive, effective "no later than April 2020" and added that "Richard Masters will continue as interim chief executive until that time and will then revert to managing director," on 02/10/2019. However, the Premier League accepted David Pemsel's resignation following "media disclosures and discussions", on 29/11/2019.

Prior to David Pemsel, Susanna Dinnage, global president of Discovery's Animal Planet channel, had also previously been announced as the new chief executive of the Premier League on 13/11/2018. However, Dinnage withdrew from the role to return to Discovery on 30/12/2018.
