France TV rights: "No Champions League does not change our project" (J. Roures, Mediapro)

"The fact that we do not have the rights to the Champions League (2021-2024 cycle) does not change our initial project. We've had explanations from UEFA (concerning the awarding of these rights to Canal+ and beIN Sports), and they did not fully convince us, but we move on to other things. We were not ready to pay this amount (€375m), we will not complain," stated Jaume Roures, president and founder of Mediapro, at the end of the year-end General Assembly of the LFP on 12/12/2019.

"From the 2020-21 season (2020-2024 rights cycle), we will be the new home of French football, since we will have the best offer of Ligue 1 both qualitatively and quantitatively with 85% of matches. We will revolutionize the market by offering a simple and clear offer," said Julien Bergeaud, the CEO of Mediapro France.
